Posted on Posted in News

Weymouth beach has won 2 awards from Keep Britain Tidy including a precious Blue Flag.

Weymouth beach at the centre of Dorsets’ beautiful Jurassic coast, has finally won the coveted Blue Flag award. Keep Britain Tidy has also awarded a Seaside Award for 2016.

There have been 7 extra Blue Flags awarded to English beaches this year so a total of 143 beaches in England will fly either the Blue Flag or Seaside Award, showing residents and tourists that they are among the best in the country.

These awards are the quality markers for our beaches and mean those enjoying them can rest assured that they are safe and clean meeting the highest management and environmental standards, as well the bathing water quality standards.

Councillor Jason Osbourne, Brief holder for Weymouth & Portland Council’s Tourism and Culture, said: “We are delighted to be able to fly the Blue Flag. This adds to the collection of awards that have been awarded to Weymouth Beach over the years including TripAdvisor voting it the second best UK beach.

We just advise that you get yourself down to Weymouth and enjoy our beautiful beach along with everything else Weymouth has to offer.
