Dog-friendly Greenlands Guesthouse in Weymouth makes generous donation to Rushton Dog Rescue
A GUESTHOUSE which welcomes dogs has handed over a generous donation to a rescue centre.
Steve and Sharon Latty fell in love with Weymouth because of its beauty, location and dog-friendly nature.
So they decided to pack up their lives in the Midlands and open dog-friendly Greenlands Guesthouse in Waterloo Place.
Instead of charging an accommodation fee for man’s best friend, Mr and Mrs Latty ask guests to make a small contribution to charity.
They have just handed over more than £164 to Rushton Dog Rescue, which rescues and re-homes unwanted or stray dogs from around the area.
Sharon said: “We encourage responsible behaviour towards pets and the environment and treat the animals with the care they deserve for the unconditional trust and love they give us.
“In this time of recession pets are often given up because of expense this is one of the reasons amongst many we do not charge for accommodating them, instead we encourage guests to donate to the local animal rescue shelters in collection tins provided.
“Over the years we have been here we have made vast improvements to the guest house and have worked very hard to make the business successful.
“We have enjoyed another very busy season meeting new guests and introducing them to the wonders of Weymouth and of course welcoming back our many regular visitors, some with their furry friends.”
